This is my first finished quilt. I patched it by machine then had it machine quilted and binded. I love the colors of this quilt..

Hand Quilting
1 comments

When I look at an antique quilt I admire hand quilting. I stand in awe of looking at those tiny handmade stitches. I am contemplating whether I want to hand or machine sew. When I machine sew I do not feel very relaxed and meditative. However, when I hand sew I am at peace.
I found this pattern by http://figtreequilts.com/
and I think it would be easy to hand sew and/or machine sew depending on my mood.

Simpler Quilts

I am drawn to quilts that are hand stitched and made from scraps of fabric. The quilts I love, are not perfect, but have flaws, as we do. Simpler quilts... Yes, I admire those in the Department stores, however, that is not what I want to recreate. The above book is available at Amazon.
I do not own the book, but it features antique quilts and the technique I admire.

Quilt Cat

I would like to start blogging again and give this blog a new style. Right now I have been hand quilting. It is very relaxing for me and this is my latest creation. My cat is enjoy this doll quilt as much as I am enjoying sewing it. I am a semi new quilter.
The above are Ohio Star quilt blocks that I mostly hand pieced from 1800's reproduction fabrics. I plan to use them in a quilt. I was inspired by Sharon Yenter's book Blended Quilts.
