Thank you Deb for leading me in a direction to identify the quilt block as Corn and Beans. I really like this pattern. I notice that when I see a quilt I love it has a few characteristics:
1. Detailed
2. Great jewel tones/not pastels
3. Hand quilted.
Of course this is my personal preference.
I am very much interested in learning how to hand quilt. I hand piece my quilt tops. Funny, I have met a few hand quilters in my area, but none want to teach this art. Why not? If we don't pass this art down through the generations it will be lost. However, I did find a teacher last night and I will be getting my first lesson on Monday night.
Above is a picture of hand quilting. Notice the jewel tones, hand quilting and detail!
Enjoy!!

I'm glad you found a teacher! I always wonder about people who won't teach their craft to others...
My mother is a great quilter! She used to quilt by hand and tried to teach me... but I'm more into sewing clothes!
Can't wait to see you first hand quilted project!
