Rug Hooking Finish

Here is a small rug that I recently finished. It reminds me of an antique rug from long ago. I hung it on the wall in my entrance way and it looks beautiful. It was quick and so much fun to hook. I bought a carpet strip from Lowe's and my husband sawed it to the width of the rug. We nailed the carpet strip to the wall and I then pressed the rug to the carpet strip. It worked like a charm without the expensive costs of framing. I am thinking of changing this carpet out with the season. I do have a spring rug that I would like to hook. I am very happy with the results.

another Blackbird Design in Cross Stitch

I just love this designer... I finished this project in 2004 and tried to frame it myself. I cut much to close to the stitches. I really need to learn how to frame myself.

another small snowflake

Here is another small snowflake that I made using the same needle and thread as I spoke about in my previous post. These are so much fun to do. I need to steam and starch them. Then I will store them until next Christmas!!

snowflake doily

Last night I crocheted this snowflake. It is 5 inches in diameter. I found the pattern in an old crochet book I have. It is crocheted with a tiny 11/12 crochet hook with fine crochet cotton thread . When I was in Asheville, TN visiting Biltmore Estate over Christmas I saw a Victorian Christmas tree covered with antique crocheted snowflakes like this. That is my inspiration to crochet these darling snowflakes for my Christmas tree next year. I also crocheted tiny glass beads into the tips of this snowflake for added sparkle.

and another small rug

This is another small design from Blackbird Designs that I hooked up. The picture came out a little dark. I dyed the background of this rug also. It is gold and so deep and luxurious... Oh, so much fun!!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!! I wish all of my crafting friends a happy and healthy New Year.

I have been very busy rug hooking in my free time.. Above is a small rug hooking that I completed. The pattern is from Blackbird Designs. One of my favorite designers. I used 4, 6 and 8 count wool strips for this project. I dyed the background wools myself!! I traced the pattern on to linen backing. I am very proud of this project. I have completed 4 other rug hooked projects, which I will post.

I have not given up on cross-stitch, but for now I am a hooker!! :)

Enjoy!!
