and Finished with Quaker Garden..

Yes, it's done and beautiful!! NOTE: I had only one two ply strand left of Caper when I was done. I did a little ripping out, not much. Don't waste Caper and you will have enough to finish.

and more progress....

thank you for your kind compliments...

Right now when I receive a question from my blog I can't answer it directly, because I don't see your email address. I will work on fixing this.

Here are answers to your questions..

smartypantz said...I started this last week and I love it, too! I am worried about one thing, though. I am stitching in hand and the fabric creases very easily. How will you get the folds out without washing at the end? (Can you tell I'm a beginning stitcher?)

Answer...R&R fabrics have that creased, aged look that so many of us love. Some of the creases will come out after a light steam with your iron. Make sure you put a towel between your linen and the iron for protection against burns on your linen. Some of the creases on R&R linen will remain and that is just the worn, aged look of the linen.. Your framer (if you frame professionally will steam and prepare your needlework )

Tempus fugit said...I couldn't find it on Blackbird website. Can you tell me the reference of the pattern ?

Answer here is the link to Loose Feathers Autoship from Needlecraft CornerI order all of the Loose Feathers designs by Blackbird Designs on auto shipment because they are so beautiful this year.

I am really enjoying this project!!!

Quaker Garden Update

Quaker Garden by Blackbird Designs is an absolute joy to stitch. I must admit that this is one of my favorite all time patterns!! I have only been working on it for a few hours and as you can see it works up quickly, yet beautifully. I am using the requested fabric 30 count R&R Garden State Java and I love it. At first I was going to do it in a smaller count fabric, but now I am so happy I chose the 30 count. It really opens up the design and just works.

Beads and Enchanted Fabric

Below is my lovely fabric from Enchanted Fabrics. It is a pale shade of blue with hints of green. It is lovely, but after testing last night I decided I din't like it for the project I had planned to use it for!! Very upsetting.

Last summer I spent some time beading. I made this necklace and bracelet combo out of glass delica beads and large oval glass beads. It is sparkly with light green beads. (double click on image to see a larger detail) It was a lot of fun and was finished in a few hours. I made a lot of beaded jewelry last summer. Beading is fun and you see your results quickly. However, cross stitch is my passion.

New Loose Feather Out

Blackbirds designs has a New Loose Feather out and it will be ready to ship today for those ordering from Needle Craft Corner on auto ship for Blackbird Designs. It is beautiful... I gasped when I say how pretty it is and yes it's a Quaker influence.

I still haven't stitched the first one because I never bought the threads. It's a good idea to get the whole kit at one time. I decided that the first week of every month will be dedicated to these designs...

The following design is called The 1816 Edcina Pieters Sampler and it is in my copy of Antique Sampler and Needlework Quarterly volume 40. I know you could get a copy of this magazine if you wanted to stitch it to. This is a stunning sampler that I would love to stitch. It is done on linen in black silk only. Of course you could change the colors to suit your likes. I like to keep them true to the original designer. I really like the simplicity of this design.

Happy Easter and Happy Passover, friends. I wish you a healthy and happy holiday weekend.

some progress..

My progress with Marion Robertson continues. It is slow going and I have been busy with family matters. I really like this sampler, the design, colors and linen I chose (40 ct belfast) make it a joy to work on. I am using DMC cotton floss.

I hope to finish soon so I can move on to a different project.

Enjoy!!

Hello Miss Kitty

I started Miss Kittys Dragon's in 2002 and just finished it!! I don't know if I should have it framed or made into a small pillow?!?! If you click on the image you will see that it has an adorable Kitty charm in the center of the pattern as well as charms in each corner. I really like these charms. Yes, there is hope that all UFO's will be finished one day. I really like this pattern and I am a big fan of
Just Nan as well. She has some beautiful samplers along with smalls and series. When you finish a Just Nan project you always have great results.

I am still working on Scarlet Letter Marion Robertson 1834. It's very slow going, but I know it will be worth the results.

S is for Spring

Thank you for you kind compliments on my work. Terri asked me how long it took to do the Hester's Needle project. Not long Terri. I worked on it on and off for about a month and a half. It was a fun project even on the 40 ct linen. I am waiting for it to get back from the framers. I own four more of their patterns which I plan to do one day.

I saw this adorable Prairie Schooler freebie on the Stitched in Holland Blog and just knew I had to make one.

I did mine on 32 ct linen with leftover floss from previous projects (my rule for doing freebies....must use leftover floss) and sewed on some gingham ribbon and made a beaded holder. I will get some stuffing when I go to the craft store again and fill up this little ornament. So spring-like and sweet. I hope you will make one for yourself. It just took a few hours!!

Enjoy!!
